Speaking during a virtual open session of the parliament on Sunday to outline his proposed programs, Mehrdad Akhlaghi stated that defending the country in the current sensitive juncture requires a precise understanding of the rapidly changing regional and global security and strategic environment.
“Serving a nation that is in a battle against the evil front of Zionism and global arrogance, and serving as a soldier under the wise command of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, will be a divine blessing to fulfill a jihadi duty,” he noted.
Highlighting that the regional and global environment is no longer static or predictable, Akhlaghi warned of deep and accelerating changes. “A change in the nature of threats, the logic of military power, the technological environment, and the regional order is occurring. The nature of today’s conflicts is hybrid warfare, where military combat is intertwined with economic sanctions and restrictions, cyber battles, supply chain disruptions, information warfare, and restricted access to technology,” he explained.
The proposed minister pointed to the continuous development of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defense capabilities under sanctions, attributing this power to decades of efforts by defense industry experts, scientists, university elites, and knowledge-based companies.
“Today, these capabilities have brought the American-Zionist enemy to the brink of desperation in the recent war and placed them in a strategic deadlock,” Akhlaghi stated.
Referring to the measures taken to bolster the country’s defense following the recent conflicts, he added: “After the 12-day war, these capabilities have been completed and updated in such a way that they have altered the enemy’s estimates and calculations, creating deep doubts in the minds of the enemies regarding the continuation of the military war.”
He concluded that continuing this path and supporting the Resistance Front requires a precise understanding of strategic developments, constantly upgrading the nation’s defense power, and maintaining absolute readiness to confront complex and varying threats.
