At least 12 American personnel were injured in the strike, with two in serious condition. The attack reportedly involved a missile strike on the base along with multiple drones.
The E-3 Sentry AWACS isn’t just a regular plane—it’s a tricked-out Boeing 707 that works as an airborne command center. It can spot targets, identify what’s out there, and keep tabs on battlefield chaos for up to 250 miles all around.
Retired US Air Force Colonel John Venable told the news outlet that the damage could significantly affect Washington’s capabilities in the region.
“It’s a huge deal,” he said, adding, “It hurts the US’s ability to see what’s happening in the [Persian] Gulf and maintain situational awareness.”
