Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun has emphasized that China firmly opposes illegal unilateral sanctions against Iran, amid US threats to sanction countries allowing Iranian commercial flights to land.

When asked whether China was still allowing Iranian commercial flights to land after the US threatened to sanction countries permitting such flights from Wednesday, Jiakun said at a press briefing, “China’s position remains consistent”, according to Chinese media outlet Global Times.
He added, “We firmly oppose illegal unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Jiakun described Washington’s sanctions against Iran’s aviation industry as illegal, stressing that his country opposes such sanctions against Iranian airlines.
