Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, referring to the recent talks with the U.S., says the renewed threats and excessive demands from the American side spoiled the chance of reaching a possible agreement.

“In intensive talks at the highest level in 47 years, Iran engaged with U.S. in good faith to end the war,” Araghchi wrote on his X account on Monday morning.
“But when just inches away from Islamabad MoU, we encountered maximalism, shifting goalposts, and blockade,” he explained the reasons the talks between the U.S. and Iran ended without a breakthrough.
“Zero lessons learned,” Araghchi rebuked the American negotiators, arguing that “Good will begets good will. Enmity begets enmity.”
The 21 hours of marathon talks in Islamabad ended without a deal that Iran blamed on the United States’ excessive and irrational demands.
The high-ranking delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and accompanied by Araghchi, departed Islamabad for Tehran on Sunday afternoon.
