Iranian embassy criticizes hostile policies of President of European Council toward Iran

The Iranian embassy in London sharply criticized President of the European Council Antonio Costa, dismissing repeated claims and a history of hostile policies toward Iran.

In a message on X on Wednesday, the embassy said it was “remarkable how European officials recycle the same talking points while ignoring the real sources of instability.”

The statement stressed that Iran’s nuclear program had been subject to the most extensive and stringent inspections in the history of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), while Israel has never allowed such oversight, adding that Europe has remained “conveniently silent” on the issue.

In a statement released earlier, Costa had said that Iran should address the concerns of the international community on its nuclear and missile programs, as well as on freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s embassy recalled that Iran signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in good faith, but the United States withdrew from it and Europe failed to fulfill its commitments.

It added that Iran continued to honor its obligations for a year despite intensified European sanctions.

“And now you talk about ‘addressing concerns’?” it said. “The US and Israeli regime attacked Iran twice during negotiations-assassinations, civilian targets including a primary school, destroyed infrastructure. Clear violations of international law. Europe said nothing.

The embassy further urged Europe to review the record “before lecturing others.”

“As for the illusion that appeasing reckless policies-especially under Trump-will bring security: if you don’t stop this now, don’t be surprised when the consequences reach Europe next,” it added.
