President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, held a high-level telephone conversation on Sunday to review the latest developments regarding the ceasefire and the recent diplomatic process in Pakistan.

The two presidents discussed a range of regional and international issues, with a specific focus on the outcomes of the 21-hour marathon negotiations between Iranian and U.S. delegations hosted by Islamabad.
During the call, President Pezeshkian briefed the Russian leader on the current status of the two-week ceasefire and the progress of the talks in Pakistan. The two leaders shared their views on effective strategies to strengthen regional stability and security in the wake of the 40-day conflict.
The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, also noted that President Putin proposed Russia’s assistance in facilitating a “political and diplomatic resolution” to the crisis. Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for Moscow’s principled stance and its provision of humanitarian aid to the Iranian people during the recent wartime period.
Beyond the immediate diplomatic crisis, the presidents evaluated the current state of bilateral cooperation. Both sides emphasized the strategic importance of developing and deepening relations across various sectors of mutual interest.
The call underscores the close coordination between Tehran and Moscow as the Islamic Republic navigates the complex aftermath of the conflict.
