Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the high-ranking Iranian delegation in Islamabad demonstrates Tehran’s seriousness, adding that Iran is prepared for any scenario with a “superior hand.”

Gharibabadi emphasized that this round of diplomatic engagement differs fundamentally from previous negotiations. “This is not merely a negotiation; it is a demand. Iran has a long list of legitimate demands that must be addressed,” he noted.
The senior diplomat highlighted that Iran enters these talks backed by significant military achievements. “With the seriousness of our delegation, our military superiority, and the national unity we have achieved, we aim to advance Iran’s rightful demands,” Gharibabadi said.
He further pointed out that the presence of a head of one of the three branches of government (Speaker Ghalibaf) as the lead negotiator is a clear signal of Iran’s commitment to the process. “We are serious about every scenario. If the scenario is defending the country, we are fully prepared. If it is negotiation, we have participated at the highest possible level.”
Gharibabadi outlined two major differences between the current Islamabad talks and prior diplomatic efforts:
Military Superiority: “We achieved significant victories during the war and are participating from a position of strength. The Americans failed to achieve any of their objectives in this conflict.”
He also specifically pointed to Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz as a decisive factor that changes the dynamic of the negotiations.
The Deputy Foreign Minister concluded by asserting that Washington’s failure to reach its military goals has forced it to seek a diplomatic path, where Iran now holds the strategic advantage.
