The commander of the Iranian Army’s Navy announced a mission involving submarines to monitor and track vessels in the waters of the Persian Gulf.

Rear Admiral Shahram Irani noted, “Iranian-made light submarines, in accordance with threats, capabilities, and needs, are on the trigger and conducting bottom-sitting operations in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, while also expanding their presence.”
Among the capabilities of the Army’s light submarines known as the “Dolphins of the Persian Gulf” are bottom-sitting on the seabed in the deep waters along the strategic waterway of the Strait of Hormuz for extended periods, as well as tracking and destroying various types of hostile vessels.
According to the reports, the Dolphins of the Persian Gulf surfaced to demonstrate Iran’s maritime defense power in an operation named in memory of the martyrs of the Iranian destroyer Dena. After performing several formation maneuvers, they descended back into the depths of the sea to continue their assigned missions.
