Speaking in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Pezeshkian referred to the U.S. violation of commitments in talks, imposition of two wars against Iran, and numerous crimes committed against the Iranian nation.
Pezeshkian stated that Tehran entered the Islamabad talks with determination and seriousness, but its success depends on the approach of the other side.
He called the Israeli attacks against Lebanon the main source of tension, adding that the killing of hundreds of innocent Lebanese people and the attack on civilian sites in that country, including a nursery, is a clear example of a war crime.
Pezeshkian also stressed the need to pressure the Israeli regime and the U.S. to put an end to the attacks.
Iran has never sought tension or war, and has always emphasized resolving issues through dialogue based on international law, Pezeshkian said.
We have no doubt in defending our legitimate rights and the territorial integrity of our country, he reiterated.
He also referred to the Iran’s missile capability as a defensive tool against the aggressors, and criticized the inaction of international organizations, including the UN and the European Union, in the face of illegal attacks against Iran and the brutal Israeli attacks against the people of the region.
Meanwhile, Macron stated that his country has officially and clearly condemned this war from the very first day, and now also welcomes the ceasefire and emphasizes the need to stop attacks against Lebanon.
He expressed hope that the process of the Islamabad negotiations would progress.
Emmanuel Macron also announced Paris’s readiness to help establish peace and stability in the region.
