The Iraqi Foreign Minister, emphasizing Baghdad’s stance on regional developments, declared that his country rejects the use of force against Iran and has no intention of playing the role of a mediator.

Fuad Hussein, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, stated in an interview with Reuters on Friday that the decision regarding the reappointment of Nouri al-Maliki is an internal matter and that Baghdad is not taking Washington’s signals seriously.
He also reported that approximately 3,000 ISIS detainees have been transferred from Syria to Iraq, and this process is ongoing. According to Hussein, Baghdad is currently negotiating with Arab and Islamic countries for the repatriation of their nationals, whereas European nations are adopting a more cautious approach in this regard.
Fuad Hussein clarified that there has been no change to the timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of 2026, adding that Iraq requires greater financial support to manage the issue of the ISIS detainees.
