President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that the U.S. is seeking to “repeat previous patterns and betray diplomacy,” warning of consequences for regional and global security amid ongoing tensions.

During a phone conversation late on Sunday evening with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian discussed the latest regional developments, ceasefire-related issues, and diplomatic efforts led by Islamabad.
The president thanked Pakistan for its serious efforts to promote peace, expressing appreciation for both the prime minister and the country’s army chief.
Pezeshkian, however, sharply criticized Washington’s conduct, citing “continued breaches of commitments and bullying and unreasonable behavior” during negotiations and the ceasefire period.
He described the United States’ provocative and illegal actions in the so-called naval blockade of Iran as “a clear violation of the ceasefire understanding and contrary to the UN Charter.”
“Such actions, along with threatening rhetoric by U.S. officials against Iran, only lead to intensifying mistrust regarding America’s seriousness, and further, reveal that the U.S. seeks to repeat previous patterns and betray diplomacy,” he said.
The president reaffirmed Iran’s firm determination to defend the country against any renewed adventurism by the U.S. and Israel, warning of the broader implications such a scenario could have for international stability.
He also stressed Tehran’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening relations with neighboring countries, including those along the southern shores of the Persian Gulf, based on good neighborliness and mutual respect.
Pezeshkian expressed hope that regional states would, in light of recent experiences, work collectively to enhance peace and security without “destructive interference by extra-regional actors, particularly the United States.”
Sharif, for his part, welcomed Iran’s constructive positions and dialogue, particularly during the recent visit of Pakistan’s army chief to Tehran.
He said Islamabad that with the support of its friends and partners, will remain fully committed to its sincere and genuine efforts to advance regional peace and security.
