First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref says Iran providing security for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway linking the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, is not free of charge.

One cannot restrict Iran’s oil exports while expecting free security for others, Aref wrote on his X on Monday, referring to the illegal U.S. maritime blockade in international water aimed at restricting Iranian vessels.
“The choice is clear: either a free oil market for all, or the risk of significant costs for everyone,” he said, adding that “Stability in global fuel prices depends on a guaranteed and lasting end to economic and military pressure against Iran and its allies.”
On Sunday, Aref said the Islamic Republic would maintain its wartime achievements, especially in the Strait of Hormuz that would allow the country not to wait for the lifting of illegal sanctions make them practically ineffective.
Iran’s Armed Forces tightened oversight of the strait and restored its previous status, with zero passes of ships after the United States continued its “repeated breaches of commitments” and engaged in “piracy and maritime theft under the so-called blockade.”
