During the consultation, the Iranian Foreign Minister outlined the technical details of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding for his Chinese counterpart. Araghchi expressed optimism that both Tehran and Beijing will effectively capitalize on the strategic opportunities presented by this agreement to significantly expand their bilateral cooperation, particularly in the vital fields of energy and economic joint ventures.

Highlighting the deep-seated mutual trust between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China, Araghchi emphasized the long-term strategic nature of their bilateral ties. He conveyed Tehran’s gratitude for Beijing’s continuous support throughout the diplomatic negotiation process and its robust endorsement of the final memorandum.

Addressing the historical precedents that have fostered deep structural distrust between Iran and the United States, Araghchi explicitly stated that the absolute responsibility for the full and faithful implementation of every clause within this understanding—especially regarding the total cessation of military hostilities across all fronts—rests squarely upon the United States.

For his part, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed the finalization of the memorandum of understanding, commending the resilience of the Iranian government and nation in the face of external pressures and coercive unilateral policies. He highly praised the responsible and diplomatic approach exhibited by the Islamic Republic of Iran throughout the resolution of complex issues and the advancement of international dialogue.

Wang Yi stressed the vital necessity for the absolute and precise execution of all provisions contained in the accord. He reaffirmed China’s complete readiness to cooperate in facilitating the smooth implementation of the agreement, strengthening constructive regional engagement, and assisting in resolving outstanding ambiguities or geopolitical challenges among regional states.

Concluding their dialogue, the two top diplomats underscored the urgent need for the broader international community to rally behind this memorandum of understanding. They specifically emphasized the heavy responsibility of the United Nations Security Council, as the primary international institution tasked with maintaining global peace and security, to provide effective support for the implementation of the pact and ensure absolute adherence to its terms. Both ministers reviewed key aspects of their bilateral agenda, expressing confidence that the momentum generated by this diplomatic breakthrough will open a prosperous new chapter in Iran-China strategic relations.
