Iranian ice climbers delivered another impressive performance at the second round of the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup 2026, held in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, from January 22 to 24.

The event brought together the world’s top athletes in the speed discipline, where Mohammadreza Safdarian produced a dominant run to claim the gold medal, finishing atop the podium.
His compatriot Mohsen Beheshti also advanced to the final and secured the silver medal, sealing a remarkable one-two finish for Iran. The bronze medal went to an athlete from Liechtenstein.
Another Iranian competitor, Mojtaba Hashemi, placed 17th in the men’s competition.
In the women’s category, Mahin Khalili delivered a solid performance, finishing 10th overall.
Safdarian and Beheshti had earlier showcased their strong form at the opening round of the 2026 Ice Climbing World Cup in South Korea, where they also captured gold and silver, respectively, confirming Iran’s growing presence at the elite level of the sport.
