Iran Dismisses Reuters Report on Enrichment Compromise as Fabricated

Iran View24 – Tehran, Thursday, May 29, 2025
Iran has categorically denied claims published in a recent Reuters report alleging that Iranian officials expressed willingness to compromise on the country’s uranium enrichment capabilities during ongoing nuclear negotiations with the United States.

Responding to the report, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei firmly rejected the assertion, stating, “Continuing enrichment in Iran is an uncompromising principle.” He described the Reuters article as yet another instance of “fabricated news” that has been repeatedly refuted and proven false.

“This claim is baseless and a continuation of a media narrative that seeks to distort the facts about Iran’s nuclear policy,” Baghaei added.

The response comes following the fifth round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, which took place on Friday in Rome. The negotiations were once again led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Steve Witkoff, regional envoy for former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Both Iranian and American officials have thus far characterized the ongoing discussions as “constructive and positive,” with diplomatic sources noting steady progress toward a potential framework for re-engagement on the nuclear deal.

Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear program is peaceful and that its right to enrichment under international law is non-negotiable.
