President Pezeshkian: Iran Committed to Peaceful Nuclear Program, Praises Oman’s Mediation Role

Iran View24 –
In an exclusive interview with the Oman News Agency (ONA) and Oman TV, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s firm commitment to utilizing nuclear technology solely for peaceful purposes, emphasizing that all activities are conducted within the framework of international law.

Speaking in Muscat during his official visit, President Pezeshkian stressed that uranium enrichment and nuclear research, when conducted under international regulations, are legitimate rights of any sovereign nation. He clarified that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons, and instead aims to use nuclear energy in areas such as medicine, energy production, and economic development.

The president praised Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his ongoing and valuable efforts in supporting regional peace and acting as a mediator between Iran and the United States. He welcomed the Sultan’s diplomatic engagement in pushing forward the nuclear negotiations toward a fair and mutually respectful agreement that reflects the aspirations of both nations.

Describing the Iran-Oman relationship as long-standing, deeply rooted, and based on mutual respect, Pezeshkian called his meeting with the Sultan “positive and constructive.” He noted that discussions during his visit focused on bilateral cooperation and key regional and global developments.

The Iranian president underlined Iran’s foreign policy approach, which centers on deepening ties with neighboring countries through strategic cooperation. He pointed to the advanced political and economic coordination between Tehran and Muscat, particularly in addressing regional issues and confronting challenges stemming from international sanctions.

Highlighting shared views between Iran and Oman—especially regarding the Palestinian cause—Pezeshkian emphasized the alignment of the two nations on critical regional matters. He also announced ongoing efforts to increase trade volume between Iran and Oman to over $20 billion, through enhanced maritime and air cooperation.

Oman, he said, is set to become a strategic trade hub for the exchange and export of goods between Iran and countries across the region, Central Asia, and extending to African states, boosting economic partnerships and regional connectivity.

In conclusion, President Pezeshkian called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the genocide and massacres committed by the Israeli regime against innocent civilians in Gaza, urging a united front in defense of human rights and justice.
