Esmaeil Baghaei wrote on his X account regarding the ongoing U.S. naval blockade of Iran: “The United States’ action in blockading Iranian ports or coasts is not only a violation of the Pakistan-mediated ceasefire but is also illegal and criminal.”

He added: “This action violates Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. According to Article 3(c) of UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 (1974), it is considered an act of aggression, which explicitly classifies the blockade of a state’s ports or coasts as such an act.”

Baghaei further noted: “Furthermore, by imposing deliberate collective punishment on the Iranian people, this action constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity.”
