Following Ankara’s opposition to any hostile action against Iran, the Speaker of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly stated that any U.S. military strike on Iran would be a major catastrophe for the region, stressing that Turkey would use all available means to prevent such a scenario.

Delivering speech during an iftar program in Istanbul, Numan Kurtulmuş stressed, “Turkey’s stance on this issue is clear and firm. We continuously convey this stance to the parties involved. A U.S. attack on Iran would be disastrous for the region.”
Kurtulmuş warned, “Even if it begins as a short-term strike, it could last for a long time and lead to major vulnerabilities and turmoil with unpredictable consequences.”
He argued that the United States should draw lessons from its previous military interventions. “It did not achieve what it sought from the occupation of Afghanistan, the occupation of Iraq, or other interventions. Instead, it incurred very heavy costs,” he said.
The Turkish parliament speaker suggested that foreign influence, particularly the Zionist lobby, over U.S. foreign policy would be a key factor in determining whether an attack occurs.
