Speaking to the renowned Austrian weekly Profil, Asadollah Eshraq Jahromi said, “This imposed war is not ours—it is a war of choice imposed by the United States and the Zionist regime against our people and country.”
“We entered the diplomatic and negotiation arena with good will to prevent war and crisis in the region, but the US launched an attack in the middle of negotiations and betrayed diplomacy,” he said.
He said the US-Israeli war was an act of aggression, in contradiction with all international law principles and the UN Charter.
“It is a legitimate and just right for Iran to defend its people and country against brutal attacks under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” he added.
Jahromi further asserted that Iran is not and never has been seeking to increase tensions, but to end the war, certain conditions must be met, which he said include the permanent and comprehensive end of war and attacks against Iran, with no recurrence in the future.
