Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Islamabad, Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, on Monday, emphasizing the importance of sustainable solutions through dialogue and diplomacy to reduce regional tensions.

During the meeting, both sides held consultations regarding regional developments, specifically focusing on the prospects of a second round of talks between Iran and the United States.
According to a statement on the Pakistani Ministry of Interior’s official X account, Mohsin Naqvi detailed the achievements of his recent visit to Iran alongside Pakistan’s Army Chief. In return, the Iranian Ambassador expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.
The meeting further highlighted the long-standing and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, underscoring the necessity of utilizing diplomatic capacities to strengthen regional stability.
Pakistani officials also announced that necessary measures are being taken to manage and facilitate any potential future diplomatic processes, reiterating Islamabad’s commitment to a policy of supporting dialogue and tension reduction.
These diplomatic movements occur as the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated in a press conference today that Tehran currently has no plans to participate in the second round of negotiations in Islamabad, citing U.S. ceasefire violations, including the recent attack on an Iranian merchant vessel.
Notably, the Pakistani Interior Minister also held a separate meeting with the United States Ambassador to Islamabad on Monday.
