Iran calls on Saudi Arabia, UAE to prevent continued use of their territories for attacks against Iran

Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, called on Saudi Arabia and the UAE to uphold the principles of good neighborliness and prevent the continued use of their territories for attacks against the Islamic Republic.

In two separate letters addressed on Monday to the UN secretary-general and the president of the UN Security Council, Iravani raised concerns over the use of Saudi and Emirati territories for US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

He said that Iran, while remaining committed to the principle of good neighborliness, reserves its inherent right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.

The following is the full text of the ambassador’s letter on the use of Saudi territory for attacks on Iran:

Excellency,

Upon instructions from my Government, and pursuant to my previous letters dated 3, 7, 16, 26, 30 and 31 March 2026, I wish to inform Your Excellency and the members of the Security Council of the following:

Based on monitoring and assessments conducted by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, it has been ascertained that the aggressor, namely the United States, has continued to use the territory and airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the planning, preparation, equipping, and execution of unlawful military attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Some specific instances are as follows:

  • At 00:25 on 24 March 2026, United States F-16SV fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 10:01 on 24 March 2026, United States F-16SV fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 09:20 on 24 March 2026, United States F-16SV fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 11:09 on 24 March 2026, United States F-35 and F-15E fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 17:12 on 24 March 2026, United States U-2S reconnaissance aircraft, operating over the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 17:31 on 24 March 2026, United States U-2S reconnaissance aircraft, operating over the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 17:50 on 24 March 2026, United States U-2S reconnaissance aircraft, operating over the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 21:17 on 24 March 2026, United States KC-135 tanker aircraft, operating from the northeast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, provided aerial refuelling to enemy fighter jets;
  • At 21:17 on 24 March 2026, United States P-8A maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, utilising and transiting the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 21:59 on 24 March 2026, United States F-15E fighter jet, utilising and transiting the northeast airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran; and
  • At 22:32 on 24 March 2026, United States F-35 fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In light of the international responsibility of States arising from placing their territory at the disposal of others for the commission of acts of aggression and the conduct of armed attacks against the territory of a third State, the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its strong and unequivocal objection to the aforementioned unlawful actions and strictly calls upon the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to observe the principles of good neighbourliness and to prevent the continued use of its territory against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while remaining committed to the principle of good neighbourliness and to respect for the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reserves its inherent right to take all necessary and appropriate measures, including the exercise of its right of self-defence, in order to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.

Some specific instances are as follows:

  • At 16:20 on 23 March 2026, United States U-2S reconnaissance aircraft, operating over the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 16:39 on 23 March 2026, United States U-2S reconnaissance aircraft, operating over the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 21:46 on 23 March 2026, United States F-35 fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 22:22 on 23 March 2026, United States F-15E fighter jet, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 22:44 on 23 March 2026, United States F-35 fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 00:41 on 24 March 2026, United States P-8A maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 01:01 on 24 March 2026, United States P-8A maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, provided intelligence support to United States fighter jets;
  • At 10:01 on 24 March 2026, United States F-16SV fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • At 05:02 on 28 March 2026, United States F-18E and F-35 fighter jets, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran; and
  • At 08:00 on 28 March 2026, United States F-35 fighter jet, utilising and transiting the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, carried out bombing raids on targets inside the Islamic Republic of Iran.
