In a statement on Saturday, the Iranian embassy in Beirut announced that targeting Lebanese media outlets and journalists constitutes a “Zionist crime” against the country’s media sector.
It further noted, “This act is a cowardly attack on media activists who are covering and documenting field developments.”
The embassy emphasized that these acts of aggression are a desperate attempt by the attackers to conceal realities and silence the voices that document and expose their crimes.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent to South Lebanon, Fatima Ftouni, was martyred in a direct Israeli aggression alongside her brother Mohammad and Al-Manar’s correspondent Ali Sheaib, while in a vehicle clearly marked as PRESS.
