Strait of Hormuz open to friendly nations including Sri Lanka

Iran’s ambassador to Sri Lanka emphasized that Iran considered Sri Lanka as a “friend,” stressing that the Strait of Hormuz is not closed to friendly nations.

Alireza Delkhosh, Iran’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, said on Monday afternoon that Sri Lanka is considered a friend of Iran, adding: “The Strait of Hormuz is not closed to friendly countries.”

He stated, “For this reason, Iran is always ready to provide essential needs for friendly countries such as Sri Lanka. If Sri Lanka requests oil or any other essential commodities, Iran will supply them.”

Delkhosh further emphasized, “We do not want to see any hardship in Sri Lanka or against its people. The people and the country of Sri Lanka are highly respected by Iran.”
