Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denounced the United States’ illegal and inhumane actions against the people of Cuba.

Referring to more than six decades of U.S. economic blockade against Cuba—causing extensive humanitarian and material consequences, leading to a grave violation of the Cuban people’s fundamental rights—Baghaei stated, ‘The economic sanctions against Cuba represent a blatant breach of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the right of nations to self-determination, respect for national sovereignty of the states, and the prohibition of interference in the internal affairs of other countries.’
He stressed that the United States must be held accountable for its persistent and systematic violations of these principles and for the widespread infringement of the Cuban people’s human rights, amounting to crimes against humanity.
