Iran has categorically rejected Qatar\u2019s denial that Iranian pilots are being held in the country, with Brigadier General Seyyed Mohammad Baqerzadeh insisting that three Iranian pilots were captured by Qatari forces after their fighter jets were downed and calling on Doha to allow an Iranian Air Force fact-finding team to investigate their fate.<\/p>\n
The Commander of the Missing in Action Search Committee of Iran\u2019s Armed Forces General Staff has urged Qatar to allow an Iranian Air Force fact-finding team to enter the country and investigate the fate of Iranian pilots whom Tehran says are being held by Qatar.<\/p>\n
Brigadier General Seyyed Mohammad Baqerzadeh made the remarks on Sunday after Qatar\u2019s Foreign Ministry denied reports that Iranian pilots were being held captive in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cInstead of denying the matter and creating obstacles to finding the truth, the Qatari government should allow the Iranian Air Force\u2019s fact-finding and expert team to travel to Qatar,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to the commander, a team of highly experienced Iranian Air Force experts has been waiting for several months to enter Qatar and conduct a field investigation.<\/p>\n
He said repeated obstruction and delays by Qatari officials had so far prevented the return of the Iranian pilots to the country.<\/p>\n
Baqerzadeh also stressed the need for the International Committee of the Red Cross to urgently follow up on the issue.<\/p>\n
He further warned that Kuwait had similarly refrained from providing information about the fate of four Iranians who, according to Tehran, are being held by the country.<\/p>\n
