Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by a group of extremist Zionists, led by a criminal Minister of the Israeli regime.<\/p>\n
Tehran – IranView24<\/strong><\/p>\n In a statement released on Monday night, Baghaei addressed the ongoing crimes committed by the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine, as well as its illegal attacks on Lebanon and other countries in the region, emphasizing the legal and moral responsibility of all nations to confront this regime, and to prosecute and punish those responsible for these crimes.<\/p>\n Highlighting the importance of Al-Aqsa Mosque as the first qibla of Muslims, he underscored its significance for the Islamic Ummah and the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n Baghaei noted that the Zionist regime’s act of desecrating Al-Aqsa Mosque is part of its policy to change the Islamic and historical identity of the holy city of al-Quds and to incite the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.<\/p>\n He called for effective action by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Muslim countries to counter the actions of the Israeli apartheid regime that threaten the Islamic and historical identity of holy al-Quds.<\/p>\n His comments came after the Israeli regime\u2019s far-right National \u200cSecurity Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound \u2060in occupied East al-Quds\u00a0Old \u2060City \u2013 his third incursion into Islam\u2019s third holiest site this year.<\/p>\n Accompanied by Israeli settlers under heavy protection from Israeli forces, Ben-Gvir offered Jewish prayers at the site, which is not allowed for non-Muslims as part of the status quo arrangement in place since 1967, though Jewish people are permitted to visit the compound.<\/p>\n The Palestinian Authority\u2019s presidency condemned the storming of the mosque compound, which has become more frequent in recent years.<\/p>\n Ben-Gvir, who has stormed the mosque compound at least 16 times since taking office in 2022, is part of a growing settler movement that wants to take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the far-right Israeli minister having expressed his intention to build a Jewish synagogue in place of the holy Muslim site.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by a group of extremist Zionists, led by a criminal Minister of the Israeli regime.
