Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized Tehran\u2019s distrust to the U.S. as Iranian and the U.S. negotiating teams are slated to hold talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters upon arrival at Islamabad airport, Ghalibaf, who is also head of the Iranian team of negotiators, reminded Iran’s past experience of betrayal by the U.S.<\/p>\n

“Twice within less than a year, in the middle of negotiations, and despite the Iranian side\u2019s good faith, they attacked us and committed numerous war crimes,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We have goodwill, but we do not have trust,\u201d Ghalibaf reiterated.<\/p>\n

He noted that if the American side is ready for a genuine agreement and to grant the rights of the Iranian nation, then they would witness Iran\u2019s readiness for an agreement.<\/p>\n

However, should Washington seek to use negotiation as futile show and a deception operation, Tehran is prepared to secure the Iranian nation’s rights by relying on its own capabilities, Ghalibaf said.<\/p>\n

He cited the country’s successful and determined defensive and retaliatory strikes throughout the latest aggression as proof of its preparedness to resolutely secure its national interests and protect its sovereignty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
