Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned the Israeli assassination of three Lebanese journalists in an Israeli drone strike, describing the attack as an \u201cattempt to assassinate truth\u201d and a grave warning to the global conscience.<\/p>\n
Tehran – IranView24<\/strong><\/p>\n In a message of condolence on Sunday, Araghchi said the Israeli killings of Al-Mayadeen correspondent Fatima Ftouni, her brother and cameraman Mohammad Ftouni, and Al-Manar\u2019s veteran journalist Ali Shoaib were \u201cnot only a profound loss for the media community in the region and the world, but also a serious alarm bell for the global conscience.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis act, which was clearly a targeted assassination with an intent beyond eliminating individuals, constitutes an overt attempt to \u2018assassinate truth\u2019 and silence the voices of those who narrate reality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Araghchi added that the Israeli regime has a long record of targeting media personnel, stressing that such \u201ccriminal and deliberate aggression\u201d violates international laws and conventions protecting journalists in conflict zones.<\/p>\n He said repeated attacks demonstrate \u201ca continued hostile approach aimed at restricting freedom of expression.\u201d<\/p>\n Separately, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei strongly condemned the assassinations as a \u201cflagrant violation\u201d of international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n \u201cAttacking journalists is a clear instance of a war crime and a crime against humanity,\u201d Baqaei said, referring to the principles enshrined in the 1949 Geneva Conventions.<\/p>\n He said the Israeli regime carries out such acts with \u201ccomplete impunity\u201d due to political and media support from the US and some Western countries.<\/p>\n An Israeli airstrike struck a vehicle clearly marked as a press car, killing the three journalists on Saturday.
