Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on the United Nations to take decisive action in condemning US-Israeli acts of aggression against Iran and holding them accountable.<\/p>\n
Tehran – IranView24<\/strong><\/p>\n During a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres on Thursday, Araghchi discussed the latest regional developments and the security and humanitarian consequences stemming from the war.<\/p>\n He underscored Iran\u2019s \u201cfirm determination to continue legitimate defense\u201d of its national security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n Highlighting the US-Israeli \u201cbrutal attacks\u201d on civilian targets, including schools, hospitals, cultural and historical sites, public places, and residential areas, Araghchi stressed the responsibility of the United Nations\u2014and Guterres personally\u2014to address the \u201cflagrant violations\u201d of the UN Charter and international law, including human rights and humanitarian law.<\/p>\n He criticized the one-sided calls by some parties urging Iran to exercise restraint and halt the war, saying, \u201cThis obvious reality should not be ignored that it was the United States, together with the Zionist regime, that by once again betraying diplomacy and endangering the security and interests of all countries in the region, committed military aggression against Iran and imposed the war on the region and the world.\u201d<\/p>\n Araghchi further called for \u201cserious action and the adoption of firm and explicit positions by the United Nations\u201d in fulfilling its inherent duty to safeguard international peace and security by condemning aggressors and mobilizing the organization\u2019s capacities, along with those of independent countries, to hold them accountable.<\/p>\n Guterres, for his part, reiterated the UN\u2019s principled stance on the need to respect the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, while expressing deep concern over the continuation of war and killings in the region.<\/p>\n In a separate phone call on the same day, Araghchi discussed regional developments with Kazakhstan\u2019s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev, focusing on the consequences of the ongoing war.<\/p>\n Referring to Iran\u2019s continued defensive operations against aggressor bases and facilities in regional countries within the framework of the inherent right to self-defense, Araghchi emphasized the legal and moral responsibility of all regional states to prevent their territories and resources from being used for hostile actions against Iran.<\/p>\n He also warned that US-Israeli attacks on Iran\u2019s Anzali port have \u201cseriously endangered security and stability in the Caspian Sea,\u201d urging littoral states to adopt a unified and firm response to a destabilizing and criminal act.<\/p>\n Kazakhstan\u2019s top diplomat expressed concern over the situation and stressed the need for an immediate halt to the imposed war on Iran, while announcing his country\u2019s readiness to contribute to efforts aimed at restoring stability and security in the region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on the United Nations to take decisive action in condemning US-Israeli acts of aggression against Iran and holding them accountable.
