Iran\u2019s Army has condemned the European Union\u2019s move to add the country\u2019s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) to its so-called terrorist list as \u201cshameful\u201d and \u201cirresponsible\u201d.<\/p>\n
Tehran – IranView24<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThis hostile action\u2026 adds another stain of shame to the black record of European colonialists,” the Iranian Army said in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n The statement noted that this action comes as \u201ctoday\u2019s Europe is divided\u201d and \u201cdoesn\u2019t play an important role in the current international system\u201d, adding that the move aims to please US President Donald Trump and gain his support in resolving Europe\u2019s problems, including the war in Ukraine, the issue of Greenland, which Trump wants to take over, and the weakening of NATO.<\/p>\n The EU move to add IRGC, \u201cthe largest force fighting terrorism in the region and the world\u201d, to its \u201cfabricated and self-created\u201d list of terrorist group, the Iranian Army said, comes while the European bloc fully supports the terrorist Zionist regime and terrorist groups in the region.<\/p>\n \u201cUndoubtedly, this deceitful and irresponsible action by the European Union will not undermine the determination and resolve of the brave nation of Iran, and the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will continue to stand against Western-backed terrorism,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n The EU designated IRGC\u00a0on Thursday in reaction to Tehran\u2019s response to foreign-backed riots.<\/p>\n \u201cEU foreign ministers just took the decisive step of designating Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization,\u201d EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas wrote in a post on X.<\/p>\n Iranian officials have emphasized that the IRGC is a legitimate military institution and warned that any action against it is illegal and a clear violation of the United Nations Charter.<\/p>\n Iran’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the EU\u2019s decision, calling it “illegal” and “hypocritical.”<\/p>\n In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said the IRGC is an inseparable part of the Iranian Armed Forces, which has played a great role in fighting terrorism in the region.<\/p>\n The ministry described the terrorist designation of the IRGC as a dangerous move and blatant violation of basic principles of international law, including non-interference in countries\u2019 internal affairs.<\/p>\n It slammed EU claims that it’s concerned over human rights in Iran as hypocritical, citing European support for Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in its war on Iran and the EU\u2019s complicity in brutal sanctions against Iran.<\/p>\n The ministry also cited the bloc\u2019s refusal to take any action against the Israeli regime in the face of the two-year genocide in Gaza.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Iran\u2019s Army has condemned the European Union\u2019s move to add the country\u2019s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) to its so-called terrorist list as \u201cshameful\u201d and \u201cirresponsible\u201d.
