Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that, due to serious regional developments and existing challenges, there is an increasing necessity for closer consultations with Turkey to achieve coordinated positions.<\/p>\n
Tehran – IranView24<\/strong><\/p>\n Speaking upon arrival in Turkey on Friday, Araghchi said that his visit had been planned for some time in response to the Turkish foreign minister\u2019s trip to Iran several months ago.<\/p>\n He added that the purpose of the visit is to review bilateral relations, as well as discuss regional and international issues.<\/p>\n Araghchi emphasized that Iran and Turkiye, as two major neighboring countries, have always maintained close relations and ongoing consultations, adding that cooperation between the two countries continues across political, economic, social, and cultural fields.<\/p>\n The top Iranian diplomat said that given the serious regional developments and existing challenges\u2014particularly in light of objectives and positions put forward by the United States and some other actors\u2014there is a growing need for closer consultations with Turkiye to reach coordinated positions.<\/p>\n During his visit, Araghchi said that he aims to review regional developments, coordinate positions, and exchange views on strategies to confront and overcome challenges.<\/p>\n He also noted that his schedule includes meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan.<\/p>\n Referring to Europe\u2019s decision to classify the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as a so-called terrorist group, Araghchi said, \u201cThe reality about Europe is that it is a declining continent that has lost its international significance and continues to lose it every day. I am surprised that they are doing this to themselves, with their own hands.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cThis demonstrates that Europe lacks a proper understanding of the international context, the situation in our region, and even its own interests.
