Tehran \u2013 Iran View24<\/strong> \u2013 Iran has issued a stern warning that it will take retaliatory measures should the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopt a resolution against the country during the upcoming Board of Governors session on Monday.<\/p>\n

Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), told state television that Tehran will no longer maintain its extensive and cooperative engagement with the IAEA if such a resolution is passed.<\/p>\n

\u201cCertainly, the IAEA should not expect the Islamic Republic of Iran to continue its broad and friendly cooperation,\u201d Kamalvandi stated.<\/p>\n

He underscored that Iran had issued warnings following previous unfavourable resolutions, which went unheeded. As a result, Iran increased its uranium enrichment to 60 percent by a factor of seven, activated 20 new centrifuge chains, and installed advanced 13th-generation centrifuges.<\/p>\n

Kamalvandi also revealed that Tehran has prepared a comprehensive list of countermeasures, which will be partially technical and partially related to the nature of Iran\u2019s future cooperation with the agency.<\/p>\n

Addressing concerns over uranium enrichment levels, Kamalvandi reiterated that Iran does not exceed 60 percent enrichment. He explained that temporary fluctuations in enrichment levels were due to technical issues, such as reduced feedstock in centrifuges, which have since been resolved. However, he criticized the media and international resolutions for overlooking these details.<\/p>\n

The spokesman further accused European states of pushing for the resolution as part of a broader strategy to activate the snap back mechanism\u2014an option to reinstate all UN sanctions against Iran under the 2015 nuclear deal\u2014before its expiration in October.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that European members intend to submit the draft resolution to the IAEA Board of Governors during Monday\u2019s meeting, escalating tensions and potentially complicating ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States.<\/p>\n

Iran has repeatedly vowed to respond decisively should the snap back mechanism be triggered.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned Britain, France, and Germany over their \u201cmalign action\u201d in drafting the resolution, describing it as a \u201cstrategic mistake.\u201d In a post on his X account, Araghchi lamented, \u201cAfter years of good cooperation with the IAEA\u2014culminating in a resolution that dismissed malign allegations of a \u2018possible military dimension\u2019 to Iran\u2019s peaceful nuclear program\u2014my country is once again accused of \u2018non-compliance.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The warning follows the release of an IAEA report on Saturday accusing Tehran of significantly increasing its stockpile of uranium enriched up to 60 percent, edging closer to weapons-grade levels. The report estimates that as of May 17, Iran holds approximately 408.6 kilogrammes of 60-percent enriched uranium\u2014an increase of 133.8 kilogrammes since February.<\/p>\n
