Araghchi, underscoring the framework of the nuclear talks, stated that negotiations between Iran and the United States are merely confined to the nuclear dossier, and that Tehran will not accept discussions on any other issues.
He stressed that the continuation of these talks is contingent upon the emergence of a calm environment free from threats and pressure, and said the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the other side to fully respect this principle in order to keep the path of diplomacy open.
Following the conclusion of the first round of negotiations with the United States, Iran’s foreign minister pointed to the accumulation of mistrust after months of tension and a turbulent period, stressing that the foremost challenge facing the talks is overcoming this atmosphere of distrust—an atmosphere, according to him, could pave the way for designing an agreement framework that serves the interests of the Iranian people only if the other side maintains a constructive approach, and if reciprocal decisions are taken in Tehran.
