Larijani in Lebanon: Emphasis on the Path of Cooperation and the Historic Ties between Tehran and Beirut

Amid the rapid transformations in the Middle East, Ali Larijani’s visit to Lebanon is not merely a political meeting, but a strategic, multi-layered message—one that spans from deep-rooted civilizational ties to unwavering support for the Axis of Resistance, and serves as a decisive response to U.S. and Saudi efforts to undermine Iran’s position in Lebanon.

Ali Larijani’s visit, as Chairman of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, to Lebanon carries significant strategic messages in the context of the region’s rapidly evolving developments. This visit took place at a critical moment, serving as a firm response to currents, guided by the United States and Saudi Arabia, that seek to challenge the Islamic Republic of Iran’s policies in Lebanon.

Iran’s objective in this visit is not confrontation with Lebanon’s internal factions, but rather to underscore the profound and unbreakable bonds between the two countries—ties that transient policies cannot weaken. Upon his arrival at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, Larijani stated: “The relations between Iran and Lebanon are rooted in centuries-old civilizational connections, and this popular relationship has created exceptional strength between the two nations.”

Anchored in the triad of “civilization, future, and people,” this visit underscores the depth of bilateral relations. At a time when extensive offensives by the United States and Saudi Arabia are targeting the Axis of Resistance—especially Iran—this trip carries a clear message. Certain actors in Lebanon, who proclaim themselves as defenders of sovereignty, focus solely on accusing Iran of interference, while ignoring the destructive role of American-Saudi directives in weakening Lebanon’s military capability—the very force that has defeated the enemy.

This visit carries a resolute message: the Islamic Republic of Iran will never abandon its support for the Resistance. Larijani will articulate this stance clearly in meetings with President Joseph Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

Another message of this visit is directed at those countries attempting to portray Iran as isolated, claiming that its influence within the Axis of Resistance has ended. The reality, however, is that Iran supports resistance movements without interfering in the internal affairs of other nations. In contrast, real interference comes from the United States and Saudi Arabia, who, under the pressure of their own agendas, accuse Iran to conceal an undeniable truth: it is Israel that dictates the facts and compels others to execute them.

The most powerful message of this trip is the broad popular reception for Larijani, a resounding response to those who seek to downplay Iran’s role in supporting Palestine and the Lebanese Resistance. This reception serves as a popular endorsement of the correctness of the Resistance’s path and of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s commitment—an essential factor in the Resistance’s victory over the Israeli enemy.
