Iran’s Top Security Official Calls for New Global Security Order at Moscow Conference

Iran View24 – Moscow, Wednesday, May 29, 2025
Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, delivered a powerful address on Wednesday at the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues held in Moscow, calling for the establishment of an equal and sustainable global security architecture rooted in justice and multilateralism.

Speaking to senior officials from over 100 countries, Ahmadian criticised the hegemonic policies of Western powers, accusing them of exploiting tools such as sanctions and technological control to deny nations their inherent rights. He specifically pointed to Western efforts to curtail Iran’s peaceful nuclear program as a clear example of this agenda.

Unilateralism and the imposition of the will of arrogant powers have led to countless human tragedies,” Ahmadian said. “The West Asia region is a living testimony to these atrocities, from Yemen to Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq.”

He condemned the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, describing it as an “unprecedented crime” where, beyond mass killings, women and children are being starved silently and systematically. Ahmadian blamed the Western-dominated international political and security systems for enabling such violations.

From Iran’s perspective, he asserted, security must be people-centric, promoting the independence and freedom of nations, not serving the interests of a few global powers.

The Iranian official emphasised the need for a new global security order based on multilateralism and equal rights. “Only through a multipolar world can we achieve lasting peace, justice, and inclusive security for all nations,” he said.

The conference officially opened with a video address from Russian President Vladimir Putin, signaling the importance of the event amid ongoing geopolitical shifts.

Sergey Shoygu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, confirmed the presence of 126 high-ranking delegations from 104 countries, including national security advisors, intelligence chiefs, ministers, and 13 representatives from major international organizations.

Iran’s participation in this forum reflects its ongoing push for strategic diplomacy and its call for reforming global governance structures that it views as biassed and outdated.
