Iran’s FM: Agreement with U.S. Must Come Through Talks, Not Media Buzz

IranView24 – Friday -May 29, 2025 -Tehran, Iran

In response to recent media reports suggesting an imminent agreement between Tehran and Washington, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that progress in diplomacy can only be achieved through direct negotiations—not through media speculation.

In a post published Thursday on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Araghchi addressed a report by FOX News claiming that a deal between Iran and the United States was imminent. “Media is speculating about an imminent Iran-US deal. Not sure if we are there yet,” he wrote, casting doubt on the accuracy of such claims.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to a diplomatic resolution that respects the interests of all parties involved. He stressed that any potential agreement must include the full lifting of sanctions and recognition of Iran’s legitimate nuclear rights, including uranium enrichment.

The Iranian diplomat also condemned what he called “disinformation campaigns” aimed at sabotaging the diplomatic process. He accused Israel of exploiting tensions with Iran to discredit American political figures. “Using Iran to attack American critics is low, even for Israel,” Araghchi stated, warning that such tactics risk undermining efforts to resolve disputes through constructive dialogue.

He concluded his remarks by underlining that “the path to a deal goes through the negotiating table and not the media.”

Negotiations between Tehran and Washington have been ongoing, with five rounds of nuclear talks held since April 12. Further discussions are expected in the coming weeks, as both sides seek to bridge differences—particularly regarding the level of uranium enrichment permitted under a potential agreement.

In a related development, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he has personally warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to interfere with the ongoing talks, signaling the high stakes and delicate nature of the negotiations.
