Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s air and drone attacks targeting residential areas in Beirut’s southern suburbs (Dahiyeh) on the eve of the Muslim holy festival, describing the assault as a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Baghaei highlighted the repeated Israeli aggressions against Lebanon, which continue under the silence and inaction of the United Nations Security Council. He held the direct enablers of the ceasefire, particularly the United States and France, accountable for these ongoing violations.

“There is no doubt that the Israeli regime would not dare to persist in its blatant violations of the UN Charter and international law without the green light and both overt and covert support from the United States,” he stated.

Baghaei further underscored the responsibility of the UN Security Council to address violations of peace and aggressive actions by the Israeli regime. He called on the Council to take concrete steps in line with its mandated duties under the UN Charter.

“The continued lawlessness of the Israeli regime in the region — its aggression and occupation against Lebanon and other Islamic countries — increasingly demonstrates that the only path to safeguarding national sovereignty and independence is through strengthening defensive capabilities and fostering honorable resistance against this regime,” Baghaei concluded.
