Iran Responds Swiftly to Western-Backed IAEA Resolution

In response to a politically driven resolution passed at the IAEA Board of Governors, Iran has announced immediate nuclear steps—including launching a third enrichment facility and upgrading centrifuges—asserting that Western pressure will only escalate its technical progress, not reverse it.

Following the adoption of a politically motivated resolution against Iran by the United States and three European countries at the IAEA Board of Governors, Iranian officials issued an immediate and firm response.

The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), speaking to state TV, labeled the move a strategic mistake, saying:

“They believe political pressure can make Iran retreat from its legitimate rights — this tactic has failed before and will fail again.”

He noted that Iran had already warned it would respond accordingly to any politically driven actions.

In a joint statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the AEOI, Iran announced two concrete and impactful measures in response to the resolution:

1. Launching a third uranium enrichment facility at a secure new site

2. Replacing first-generation IR-1 centrifuges with advanced IR-6 machines at the Fordow enrichment plant

These steps, according to Iranian authorities, will significantly increase the country’s enrichment capacity.

Iran emphasized that these actions remain within its legal and safeguard commitments and are a direct response to the political and selective behavior of the Western powers towards its peaceful nuclear program.
