Citing the Public Relations Office of the Army, Major General Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of a meeting between a group of commanders, officers, and personnel of the Army Air Force (IRIAF) and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces—held this morning (Sunday) on the occasion of 19 Bahman, Air Force Day—congratulated the occasion and, recalling the historic decision of the Air Force to join the Islamic Revolution, stated: At that critical juncture and under ambiguous conditions, the Army Air Force made a divine decision, and it has remained faithful to that pledge to this day.
Referring to the performance of the Army Air Force during the Sacred Defense, Major General Hatami noted: By carrying out Operation Kaman 99, the Air Force conducted one of the largest operations, broke the enemy’s blitzkrieg strategy, and made the arrogant Saddam taste the bitterness of his first defeat.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Army added: The upward trend of growth and progress of the Army Air Force continued, and during the imposed 12-day war, this force carried out all its missions with full courage and valor, so that through the powerful resistance of the Armed Forces, the enemy was forced into submission and ultimately requested a ceasefire.
Emphasizing the importance of benefiting from the valuable experiences of the 12-day Sacred Defense, Major General Hatami added: The Army Air Force made use of those experiences without wasting a moment, and today it has achieved a high level of readiness that is commensurate with current threats and conditions.
Addressing the enemies, he stressed: We hope the enemy does not make a new mistake, and if it does, the Army Air Force will undoubtedly play a major role in responding to the enemy.
Regarding the presence of American naval vessels in the region, the Commander-in-Chief of the Army stated: This is nothing new; since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, we have repeatedly witnessed the presence of American enemy vessels and various units. Today is simply one of those days.
He continued: Our duty is to maintain our readiness, monitor all enemy movements, and be prepared for a decisive response—and we are prepared.
In conclusion, Major General Hatami emphasized: Today, without a doubt, the great nation of Iran and the Armed Forces know that in order to preserve the country’s independence and territorial integrity—which are the object of covetous ambitions—they must stand firm until the very last moment and the last drop of blood, and achieve victory. God willing, this will indeed be the case.
