In a statement, the Office of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that all those who lost their lives during the incidents and unrest of Dey 1404 (January 2026) were “children of Iran.”
The statement said that, in line with the administration’s policy of transparency, accountability, and responsibility, and by order of the president, a list containing the identities of 2,986 individuals who died in these events has been released, following the verification and cross-checking of data from the Legal Medicine Organization and the National Organization for Civil Registration.
Tehran – Iranview24
According to a statement issued by the Office of the President of Iran, in line with the policy of transparency, accountability, and responsibility, and by order of the Honorable President, a consolidated list of names—compiled by the country’s Legal Medicine Organization and cross-checked with the Civil Registration Organization’s database—has been released as an attachment, containing the identifying details of 2,986 individuals.
The statement explained that the discrepancy of 131 individuals compared to previously announced figures was due to the unidentified status of some individuals and inconsistencies in the registration of national identification numbers for certain victims within the Civil Registration system. It added that once these issues are corrected, the updated information will be provided in a supplementary list.
The attached list includes the victims’ first and last names, father’s name, and the last six digits of their national identification numbers.
Acknowledging the concerns and sensitivities of fellow citizens, the statement noted that a dedicated system has been designed and will be publicly announced within the next 48 hours. The platform will allow any new information or claims to be reviewed and verified without administrative complexity, while fully respecting dignity and privacy, and will provide accurate and substantiated responses to any remaining questions or ambiguities.
