Head of Iran’s Interests Section at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington Abolfazl Mehrabadi said that the number of about 40 Iranian prisoners who were to leave the United States on Sunday local time has decreased to around 20.

Speaking to IRNA on Sunday, Mehrabadi said that around 40 Iranian detainees were scheduled to leave the United States on January 25, 2026, but due to weather conditions and a measles outbreak, the number dropped to 20.
Some individuals are currently in quarantine, he added.
People from various countries, including Iran, are scheduled to depart from US on Sunday morning local time from Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona, he stated.
These Iranians will return to Iran via Kuwait, with a short stop in Egypt, he noted.
The Donald Trump administration, in line with its strict immigration policies is deporting some immigrants from the United States.
Despite cold weather and unfavorable conditions in the country, a number of Americans gathered in front of Mesa Gateway Airport on Saturday to protest against the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
