In a groundbreaking development for Iranian football, Clarence Seedorf, the legendary Dutch footballer, has officially joined Esteghlal FC as a sports consultant, following successful negotiations with Ali Nazari-Juybari, the club’s general manager.
The agreement marks Seedorf’s first professional engagement with an Iranian club in the realm of sports management and strategy.
According to the club’s official announcement, Seedorf will travel to Iran twice a month to provide technical consultation and support for Esteghlal’s sporting operations, while continuing his current engagements with international TV networks and the Royal Dutch Football Association.

Nazari-Juybari described the partnership as a “milestone” in Esteghlal’s journey toward modernizing its football operations.
“Bringing in someone of Seedorf’s caliber reflects our commitment to applying global scientific and technical standards at Esteghlal,” the general manager wrote on social media, alongside a photo of himself and the former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder.
Seedorf’s responsibilities will include advising the club’s management on the selection of the next head coach, as well as contributing to strategic decision-making processes at the technical and executive levels.
Upcoming Visit and Press Conference
As part of the agreement, Seedorf is expected to visit Tehran in the coming weeks. During his stay, he will participate in a press conference, where he is set to present his vision and roadmap for supporting Esteghlal’s ambitions on both domestic and continental fronts.
The cooperation is being widely viewed as a bold step by Esteghlal to elevate its international profile and benefit from Seedorf’s extensive experience in elite-level football.
