Tehran – IranView24 – Friday- 30 May:
Following the release of Austria’s annual intelligence report containing baseless allegations regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, Michaela Pacher, Chargé d’Affaires of the Austrian Embassy in Tehran, was summoned on Friday, May 30, 2025, by Alireza Moulaghadimi, Director General for Western Europe at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Iran’s strong protest over the contents of the Austrian intelligence report was formally conveyed. Moulaghadimi firmly rejected the claims made in the report, stating they are in direct contradiction with numerous reports issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which consistently confirm the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
He described the Austrian intelligence body’s allegations—made without any credible evidence—as “irresponsible and provocative,” and called on the Austrian government to provide an official explanation for the conduct of its national institution.
In response, the Austrian Chargé d’Affaires pledged to promptly convey Iran’s objection and request for clarification to her government in Vienna.
In a related statement today, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the Austrian intelligence agency’s report as “false, unfounded, and politically motivated,” asserting that it aimed to manipulate media narratives against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Baghaei emphasized Iran’s full compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the stringent inspection regime imposed by the IAEA. He added that such allegations not only lack credibility but also undermine the authority of the IAEA itself.
Criticizing Austria and other European countries for their silence over the Israeli regime’s possession of weapons of mass destruction, Baghaei stated:
“Unlike Austria and certain European nations that hypocritically ignore the Zionist regime’s nuclear arsenal while fully supporting its expansionist and violent policies, Iran has always opposed nuclear weapons and other WMDs and remains a firm advocate of a WMD-free Middle East.”
He concluded by urging the Austrian government to issue an official clarification on what he described as an “irresponsible, provocative, and damaging” move by an official body of that country.
