Writing on X on Sunday, Esmaeil Baqaei said Iranians had stood firm throughout history “not only against single invaders, but against powerful ‘pluses’ and grand ‘lethroughout history gionnaires’” and have “always emerged with honor.”
He referred to the 53 BC Battle of Carrhae, known in Iran as the Battle of Harran, where the Iranian commander Surena secured a “masterful ‘asymmetric’ victory” against the heavily armed Roman legions.
Baqaei said Marcus Licinius Crassus, one of Rome’s wealthiest and most powerful men, was killed in the battle, shattering the myth of Rome’s invincibility and collapsing its dream of eastward expansion.
He added, “History repeats itself — for those who refuse to study it or respect its lessons.”
