Criticizing Europe’s recent measures against the IRGC, Araghchi said, “With this decision, Europe lost something significant, and today, we see the European Union’s’ influence in the region diminishing day by day. Unfortunately, they are not even considering their own interests.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister said that the IRGC has played a critical role in combating ISIS and other terrorist groups. He stressed, “Without the IRGC, Europeans today would be facing ISIS in Paris and other cities across Europe. Yet Europe has acted ungratefully in this regard, and there is no doubt it will regret this decision.”
He noted, “In response, the Islamic Republic of Iran has the authority, through the Islamic Consultative Assembly, to classify European militaries as terrorist organizations. Europe’s actions do not reduce regional tensions, but fuel them.”
”Today, it is the countries of the region that are working to ensure peace, security, and prosperity in the Middle East, not Europe; the EU only contributes to escalating tensions,” he added.
