A U.S. aircraft carrier strike group has entered the Middle East to step up pressure on Iran, while Donald Trump, the U.S. President, reportedly said “diplomacy remained an option.”

A U.S. official told on Monday that the USS Abraham Lincoln and accompanying warships are in the area under the responsibility of the US Central Command, which covers the Middle East.
Also on Monday, U.S. news website Axios carried an interview with Trump in which he said: “we have a big armada next to Iran.” But Trump also said: “They want to make a deal. I know so. They called on numerous occasions.”
