In an interview broadcast with Turkish broadcaster NTV on Friday, the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said there were signs that Israel was looking for an opportunity to attack Iran, warning such an action could destabilise the region.
“I hope they find a different path, but the reality is that Israel, in particular, is looking for an opportunity to strike Iran,” the Turkish Foreign Minister said.
Hakan Fidan added that he had expressed his concerns directly to Iranian officials during a recent visit to the country.
Fidan’s warning followed after the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian in a phone call on Thursday that Ankara was opposed to any foreign intervention in Iran, and it valued its neighbour’s peace and stability.
